1. Quick Search Window(Fig. 2)
[1] Clicking the "Wooden tablet shapes, contents, discovery locations" button produces a window for these search conditions.
For further details refer to the explanation for "2. Search Conditions Window" (above).
Please note that clicking the "Search" button with no search term entered will target all image data in the system, resulting in long delays before any results appear.
Entering multiple search terms, separated by spaces, into the "Search Term" box produces an OR search.
[2] In the "Select Search Conditions" area, choice can be made between Approximate Matching, Partial Matching, or Exact Matching.
[3] In the "Select Display Mode" area, choice can be made between Flash, Image, or Text display. Flash contents cannot be viewed unless the Flash plug-in is installed.
[4] Clicking the "Wooden tablet shape, contents, discovery location" button produces a window for these search conditions.

2. Search Conditions Window(Fig. 3)
This window allows selection of multiple check boxes (for tablet shapes or discovery locations), or specifying contents (search strings or ancient province names), as search conditions. Multiple selections produce an OR search.
[1] The "Wooden Tablet Contents" box is for entering a search character or string. Entering multiple search terms, separated by spaces, produces an OR search.
[2] In the "Select by Province" area, an ancient province name inscribed on a wooden tablet can be selected from the list box or the map. Multiple selections produce an OR search.
[3] Press the "Search" button after setting the conditions.

3. Quick Search Results Window (Flash Display)(Fig. 4)
When the message "No matching data found" is displayed, or to start a new search, click the "Return to Quick Search" button to return to the Quick Search Window.
[1] Clicking the "Wooden tablet shapes, contents, discovery locations" button produces a window for these search conditions.
For further details refer to the explanation for "2. Search Conditions Window"(above).
[2] Results from previous Quick Searches can be retrieved from selections in the "Search History" drop-down box.
[3] Search results are displayed in groups of 14 data images at a time.
[4] Click the "Next" button to display the next set of data images. Click the "Previous" button to display the previous set.
[5] The type of image available is indicated by the four boxes under each wooden tablet, signifying (from left to right) color, monochrome, infrared, and recording notebook images. Available images can be viewed in an enlarged window.
[6] A separate window for enlarged image viewing is brought up by clicking the "Enlarge" button under each wooden tablet.
For further details refer to the "4. Enlarged Viewing Window" explanation below.
[7] Clicking the "Details" button under each wooden tablet produces the Detailed Information Window.
For details, see the "Detailed Information Explanation."
[8] A selection of images can be made by entering a check in the box at lower right beneath each image, and clicking the "Display Selection" button.
[9] Selecting the "Image Display" or "Text Display" options from the drop-down list of display formats changes the format of the Search Results Window.

4. Enlarged Viewing Window(Fig. 5)
[1] Images shown in this window can be switched when available between color, monochrome, infrared, and recording notebook images, by pressing the corresponding button (bottom right).
[2] Images can be scaled larger or smaller, and moved both horizontally and vertically.
[3] When the mouse is held over a character image, the text is displayed in a tooltip (hover box).
[4] Click the "Close" button to exit the window.

5. Image Display Window(Fig. 6)

6. Text Display Window(Fig. 7)
In the Text Display mode, research results are listed as the Contents (texts) of wooden tablets, from which Enlarged Viewing Windows and Detailed Information Windows can be accessed.
[1] Clicking the "Wooden tablet shapes, contents, discovery locations" button produces a window for these search conditions.

[2] Results from previous Quick Searches can be retrieved from selection in the "Search History" drop-down box.
[3] Search results are displayed in groups of 14 items at a time. The number of items displayed per page can be changed to 28 or 42 via the drop-down menu.

[5] Click the text listed under "Contents" to access the Detailed Information Window for each item.

[6] The type of image available is indicated under the "Image Types" by icons displayed for each wooden tablet, signifying either (left to right) color, monochrome, infrared, and recording notebook images. Enlarged Viewing Windows of the images are accessible from the Detailed Information Window for each item.
[7] A selection of items can be made by entering a check in the box in the far right column for each item, and clicking the "Display Selection" button.
[8] Selecting the "Flash Display" or "Image Display" options from the drop-down list of display formats changes the format of the Search Results Window.
